Incidence Rate in the Town of Barnstable
The average daily COVID-19 incidence rate of Town of Barnstable residents, calculated from case reports received during the past fourteen days, decreased to an average of 6.7 new cases per day (see right side of graph above).
Case Counts
Town of Barnstable: 11,715 total cases (positive residents) cumulatively to date, 94 new cases during the last two weeks.
Barnstable County: 45,769 cases cumulatively to date resulting in 674 deaths of Barnstable County residents.
Massachusetts: 1,920,814 cases of State of Massachusetts residents cumulatively to date, resulting in 20,697 confirmed deaths,
United States: According to John Hopkins University, there have been a total of 97,979,946 positive COVID-19 cases cumulatively in the United States resulting in 1,074,493 deaths nationwide as of November 10th.
Hospitalizations
Barnstable County Hospitalizations: Cape Cod Healthcare reported to us on November 10th that there were a total of twenty-five (25) patients who were being treated for COVID-19 at Cape Cod and Falmouth hospitals. None of the patients were in intensive care.
Massachusetts Hospitalizations: According to the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, on November 8th there were a total of 147 patients primarily hospitalized for COVID-19 in the Commonwealth. In total, there were 540 patients hospitalized with COVID -19. Of those 540 patients, 354 patients (66%) were reported to be fully vaccinated when they contracted COVID-19.
National Forecasts: Hospital Admissions:: The CDC reports that this week’s national ensemble has predicted that the number of new daily confirmed COVID-19 hospital admissions will remain stable or have an uncertain trend, with 1,700 to 8,400 new confirmed COVID-19 hospital admissions to be likely reported on December 2, 2022.
Deaths
Barnstable County Deaths: There were eight (8) deaths of Barnstable County residents during the past week.
Massachusetts Deaths: There were eighty-three (83) new, confirmed deaths of Massachusetts residents during the past seven days. The average age of death was 80 years old.
National Forecast: Deaths: The CDC reports that this week’s national ensemble has predicted that the number of newly reported COVID-19 deaths will remain stable or have an uncertain trend over the next 4 weeks, with 1,000 to 4,300 new deaths likely reported in the week ending December 3, 2022. The national ensemble predicts that a total of 1,079,000 to 1,086,000 COVID-19 deaths will be reported by this date. The state- and territory-level ensemble forecasts predicts that over the next 4 weeks, the number of newly reported deaths per week will remain stable or have an uncertain trend in all jurisdictions.
Vaccination and Booster Status/ Barnstable County Residents
Eighty percent (80%) of the Barnstable County residents are fully vaccinated. Sixty-four percent (64%) of Barnstable County residents received booster doses after being fully vaccinated, compared to 60% of the Massachusetts population.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) continues to classify Barnstable County as being at a low COVID-19 community level. Community levels can be low, medium, or high and are determined by looking at hospital admissions and the total number of COVID-19 cases in an area.
