In response to the need to implement precautionary measures to prevent and mitigate the spread of COVID-19, the Town will be closing the following facilities until further notice.

I. The Barnstable Adult Community Center
2. The West Barnstable Community Center
3. The Centerville Community Center
4. The Osterville Recreational Building
5. The Hyannis Youth and Community Center, HYCC (for recreational activities)
6. The Burgess House and Barn
7. The Paine Black House
8. Guyer Art Barn
9. The Gallery on 50 Pearl Street
10. All Artist Shanties

In addition, the Town may delay the opening of beach bath houses, the Bismore Visitor Center, the Old Selectmen’s Building, and the Town’s comfort stations. That decision will be made in the weeks ahead

Decisions regarding the status of the Cape Cod Maritime Museum, the Coast Guard Heritage Museum at the Trayser Museum, Zion Union Heritage Museum, and JFK Hyannis Museum will come from the organizations that operate them.

These precautionary measures are unprecedented and reflect the seriousness of this issue. In addition to preventing gatherings, they will allow the Town to focus their resources on a smaller number of core facilities. The Town understands the challenges these closures place on our community, but feel them prudent given the current developing situation.
